Players Fans’ Forum – 15th September 2017
We all love Wes….and that includes the players.
The Irishman is apparently universally admired in the dressing room, with James Maddison simply summing it up for all of us: “Wes is class.”
So it was always going to be a good start to this year’s Players Fans’ Forum. Maddison went on to say that he and Wes have a good relationship on and off the pitch, and someone else he rates in midfield is Alexander Tettey.
Joining him on the stage at last week’s event were defenders, James Husband and Christoph Zimmermann, so we had the opportunity to learn a little about our new boys too. Husband and Maddison have been keeping each other company in a variety of local restaurants, while Zimmermann has been venturing further afield to admire the scenery at Wells.
After some discussion with host Dan Wynn, questions from the floor covered a range of topics including the success, or otherwise, of zonal marking, the atmosphere on the team bus after the Millwall game, their footballing heroes and the pros and cons of a mid-winter break. One very young fan in the front row offered a potential banana skin by asking the panel who the Canaries team captain was…..luckily they passed that test with flying colours!
Husband said he realised he’d come to a ‘serious’ club when 13,000 people turned up to the pre-season friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion and commented on Farke’s rigorous training sessions. Zimmermann was able to offer some interesting insight on the differences between German and English football; and like Husband, said how much he’d enjoyed playing in front of big crowds and meeting his new fan base. In fact, he enjoyed it so much he stayed on for the rest of the evening, chatting to fans afterwards right up until the last of them left the Top of the Terrace. (Perhaps he used some of the advice on offer to produce such a good performance against Birmingham!)
In other news on the night, our Fans’ Social Club was delighted to announce a new partnership with Fosters Solicitors; support from the company as our Principal Sponsor means NCFSC will be able to bring you more and better events – hooray!
