Jacob and Andy Bowles, winners of a truly remarkable NCFSC auction prize, the Norwich City Media Match Day Experience, retell an eventful Saturday spent with the Norwich City media team at Carrow Road.
The football might not have been up to much but we, Jacob and Andy from On the Stall City, had a great time behind the scenes with the NCFC media team at the Swansea home game.
We had won the Norwich City Media Match Day Experience in an auction at the recent Norwich City Fans Social Club ‘Quiz Night’, with all proceeds donated to the Community Sports Foundation.
The day began with a warm welcome in the modern Media Room followed by a tour of the media gallery and TV studios at the top of the South Stand. Access to this area is via a walkway across the roof of the South Stand. A great view across the City but not for the faint-hearted!
Pre-match was mostly spent with the club photographer and social media teams as they posted pictures of the players’ arrival and team news across social media platforms, and then lunch in the Media Room.
A pre-match chat with Gabriel Sara was followed by a brief catch-up with former-Canary, Swans’ boss Russ Martin, and it was time to relocate to the Press Box in the City stand for the game.
The swivel seats in the press box took a bit of getting used to and the large TV screens hanging from the ceiling provided unwelcome replays of each goal and the sending off.
The game was terrible, but the day was brilliant and finished with access to the Managers’ press conferences back in the Media Room.
Russ Martin was first up and on spotting the guests at the back of the room started his interview with a raised hand and “Sorry, Jacob” which was a lovely touch from a top bloke. David Wagner faced some tough questions from the handful of local journalists that remained for his interview and then the day was done.
