Quiz Night – Thursday, February 23rd

Oh, what a night…late February 2023, what a very special time for me…you get the idea.

A cracking night was had by all at the latest Norwich City Fans Social Club Quiz.

There was something in the air that night, the stars shone bright, OK, I’ll stop with the music puns, but it was incredible.

There was a buzz in the room, Michael Bailey was plying his craft with expert aplomb, and the contestants were in a mix of smug confidence, silent bemusement, and groaning with despair, the sign of a perfectly put-together set of questions from quiz mistress Amy, who had a welcome break from her usual mistress activities in the dungeons of Cromer, but we’ll leave that there.

The first round was all about the year 2023, despite it being only two months in, a surprise for all! The second was on sport, the third a combination of film, music, and TV, and the last was the super popular Science and Nature.

In between all of that was a superb table round put together by volunteer Peter which contained some animals we’re not entirely sure weren’t from his imagination.

It was a close battle at the top with the top three teams being covered by just three points. Former unbeatable champions Forces2Canaries came in third, regulars Only here for the chips weighed in with a surprising second, but the winners, for the third time, but the first in quite a while were Trust Us, the team from our friends at the Canaries Trust. Congratulations to them.

Propping up the table was the wonderfully named Mumford and Sorensons, who were made up of the NCFC media team. Commiserations guys, we still love you and thank you for everything you do for us and that goes for the entire football club.

The quiz aside we had our biggest ever raffle takings, which is truly amazing, and the tickets even survived some over-zealous latch-free tumbling just prior to the draw.

We also had an amazing set of bids on some truly remarkable auction prizes, see the list of prizes below, but they included some prizes that money cannot usually buy, such as the Louts Training Centre Tour and an amazing Norwich City Media Match Day Experience that would see the winner spend the day with the NCFC media team, helping to set up, attending the press conferences and more.

All in you amazing lot helped us raise a grand total of £2,701 for the Community Sports Foundation.

Huge thanks to Fosters Solicitors for sponsoring us and enabling us to give every penny from the night to the CSF.
