Memorable moments from the EFL Awards 2023

EFL Fan of the Season Award nominee, Diane Blazier, reflects on a memorable night at the star-studded EFL Awards 2023, held in London on Sunday.

What a great night I had at the EFL Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel last night.

We stayed at the Thistle Hotel ten minutes away, and had a lovely executive room paid for by the EFL.

I may not have won but my team of volunteers made me feel that I had, bless them.

The food was yummy. Salmon and cream cheese to start, a huge piece of beef and veg for the main course, and a choccie bombe for sweet.

We sat with a smiley Marcelino Núñez and his interpreter, Alan. Along with Sam Jeffries, Sam Hall and Anthony Richens from the Norwich City executive committee.

Zoe Ward was there, as was Ian Thornton from the Community Sports Foundation. They sat at a different table to us, but we had a chat outside and then at the bar before we all sat down.

There were 76 tables of ten guests, with wine and water provided along with the food.

The highlight for me was the award to Kammy (Chris Kamara) which was presented by Jeff Stelling. They showed loads of clips of the funny things he’d said, what a gentleman.

I had a few chats with Marcelino Núñez, through his interpreter, about where he lives and the adjustment from Chile to Norfolk. He is having English lessons but finding it hard.

Sam Hall, Legal and Governance Director at Norwich City, sat next to me and was great, chatting away and making us feel at ease.

Thank you to Elliot King who did a lot of the work for my nomination and organised all our travel. Thank you to Tom Smith and Alice for their lovely messages.

Finally, thank you to our team who supported me all the way, watched it live and made me feel so special, I love every one of you:

Bev Burkill, Craig Bailey, Amy Seago, Emma Fletcher, Mike Ward, Peter Quinn, Sarah Purton, Sam Lincoln, Connor Southwell, Jacqui Edwards, Diane Davis and Kelvin Colbourn. ♥️
